Actually I like the 2nd option.... I think the division champs and the wild cards should get some kind of reward for doing well in the season....

Of coarse I kind of liked it the old way where you just got a chance to earn extra points on each game during the first round. That way you had to earn your extra points.

Yeah, that was pretty good SA..... if you didn't get the points it was your own fault.

I chose option three as I favored more of a reward for doing well in the regular season. I could live with option two as well.

It should be to where the the divisional winners get get a two pt lead.

It`s called home feild advantage folks..........

My father and I have been arguing about this for 4 weeks now,

I feel that the Division champ should get a little bit of a advantage, i mean afterall they are the ones who performed the best throughout the season, I dont agree that a person who has done absolutly nothing all season, in the end can take the championship from someone who has worked hard to get points,

If your gonna keep the game the way it is then i have two ideas.

Your total points goes with you into the playoffs

Or you increase the Chips for the division champs, which in the long run would decrease the pot for the winner

Let me know if any of them ideas sound any good

But all in all Jr does have an idea there, more for the divisional winners, maybe less divisions do away with the runner ups money, that way you can keep the winner getting a nice piece of change back.

What do we have 20 handicappers?
2 divisions 100.00 to each division winner

200 to superbowl champ.

Each divisional winner hits the playoffs with a 1 1/2 point lead. That way everybody has a shot at the 2 bills.

I like the idea of the hook... but 1 and the hook ain't enuff...

Yeah, that's another idea to consider. But we'd have to keep the three oldest divisions....Lacey, Tesla and Fresh.

We could increase the take for each division winner by eliminating the Rudy take. So if we have 20 players with 30 chips each, that's a total pot of 600. Give each division champ 100 and the BC champ 300. We'd still have a 2nd place finisher, the Rudy winner.....but there wouldn't be any chips.

And we could also give the three division winners a one-time 2 point playoff bonus, and have three wildcard players with a 1 point bonus. The wildcards would be determined by the top three Best Bet records who didn't win a division.

This format would put more emphasis on the regular season.....at least as far as the chips go. A small playoff points advantage is reasonable for the top regular season handicappers, as Barry Bear said in another thread, a fixed points bonus is kind of like "homefield advantage". At least it's as close as we're gonna get in this game.

It's looking like most players favor giving division winners a 2 point bonus with wildcards getting 1 point.


The above format could work. Those changes are mild and still requires the eventual BC Champ to earn it in Money Time.

But regardless of what ends up happening, I think it'll be a good idea to almost double the SB selections, while keeping the total points possible the same. The Super Bowl is all about the Vegas Prop Bets. To win the BC Championship.....you gotta be GOOD. You gotta beat the Odds Maker and the Proposition Man!! Each selection will be worth 1 point, not 2 (although the preseason picks would remain the same).

There's no problem with giving the regular season winners more of a Take, along with a small advantage going into the playoffs. They earned it.

It's a compromise between the true nature of Vegas handicapping and the NFL format. What we're trying to do here is find a balance bewteen the two, because we want this game to be fun for everybody, not just the small handful of players who had a good season.

We'll work something out.
