My bad week got better 2day!
Well as you all know, I had submitted my resume for a building inspector job with the city of Indianapolis....
Well monday i got an email saying the position had been filled...(I was kind of disapointed but hey I've still got a good job anyway so no biggie right?)
So today I get a voicemail from the secretery of the head of Metropolitian development for Indy, so I call her back at my break time...
She tells me that they didn't interview me for the building inspectors job because they thought I would be more qualified for another position they had opening up.... a project development/building codes anaylyst.... that makes about DOUBLE what the building inspector makes,,, I tell her i]I don't have the examiners certifications that the jobs lists and she tells me thats ok... if i get the the job they will PAY for my training for those certifications and you have 2 YEARS to get them LOL......
Be careful world, old shock might just have stuck his foot in the door in the political world and arena......LOL (j/k)
But this would be a great oppurtunity for me to further my career goals and would look awesome on a resume eh?

Oh I forgot to mention, those certifications would enable me to be a home inspector..... you know the guy that you pay $1000 to come and check out your house before you buy or sell? I also have an in with a mortgage company here in town.... so if I get the certs then I could also do mortgage inspections as a nice little side business as well....
Turned out to be a good week afterall.

I don't know just yet... I need to know more about the job and we would have to talk about hard figures first... LOL They do have an awesome benefits package though.... something like 15 paid holidays and around 5 or 6 weeks paid vacation, I would get a city car and a gas card too....
So if they offer me the position we would still have some negotiating to do first..

2Shock.... will you be able to take the car home as well?? I know here where I work. If you take a city car home you have to at least pay the tax on the gas you use. They just take it out of our checks each week.

I'm not sure about that one.... it is a take home vehicle though...I think the city has their own gas stations spread out through the city though... I know there is definately one on west st that is for city owned vehicles only to get gas.

technically, yeah I have a residence in Marion County.... My mom and dad's house I bought is right on the border between Indy and Avon CK.... half a mile farther west and it would be Avon...LOL
And i still have my place out by the lake as well..... So I can split time between the 2 I guess.......
I don't really think it's all that fair though... because the guys ffrom IFD and IMPD DON'T have to live in Marion county,(the folks who SHOULD habe to live in the county as a matter of public safety) and I guess neither does the mayor either... Goldsmith lived in Carmel..... and from what I understand so does Brizzi and many of the others....
Kinda do as i say and not what i do kinda thing I guess.
