Nothin' Runs Like a Deere
Oy vey......the weatherman has been saying this would be a warm day.........mid 50's instead of 70 and I mowed they entire lawn and got finished just after 5:00
Looks like a 16 time mowing season this year ....makes sense because it is this Deeres 16th season here
I will be taking a couple days off now.

Re: Nothin' Runs Like a Deere
I needed your help yesterday,Mr.King of concrete.........
I had to mix up 4 bags of concrete(I`m guessing here) 80 lbs apiece(?) with a damn trowel.......I asked the sup where the hell the mixer was at.He said he didn`t want to see me carry so much stuff up to the roof.
And that was the easy part.............The hard part was carrying those bags over my shoulder from where I had to park the truck, behind the building, thru the abandoned building(app.100 yds),up three stories, carry them up the ladder and thru a roof hatch that a church mouse could barely get thru.
Oh.........and then to get the two and a half water jugs that it took to mix it up thru the same scenario.......
I asked him where our crane was............He told me he didn`t want to spend the extra 500$ it would take to send him there.
Jeeze.....so lets spend extra to have me do all this........And to think I have a foreman`s/safety meeting every damn month to give our input about this kind of dumb ass shit from happening..........

Re: Nothin' Runs Like a Deere
Yeah Cravn if you had your Deere you could mow your place in a few minutes these days
Maybe you should stop by Home Depot and check out the deals they have right now for all the Deere
Yeah Barry I would have let you borrow my mixer that I showed here years ago.........after all the tons I have mixed I know all the easiest ways.
I mix 80lb bag in about 2 minutes and then roll right to the spot to dump it out and if I have to carry it the thing has a handle on it
I don't know if they sell these at Lowes or Home Depot anymore but that is how I got the first one and when I found another one at a *used stuff* store I got a backup for $5
You would be amazed how good it works and is much better than mixing with a shovel or even an electric mixer........not even close.
Here is a Google link where I even see somebody made a youtube video (of course not me) I have mixed over 25 bags in one day with mine before (when I built my gate at the end of the driveway)
These days I usually will mix 7 bags in a day since it is still work to make things AFTER I mix and pour..........and it takes about 1 minute to clean it after you are finished..........next trip over to Home Depot I will be putting 7 of the 80lb bags in the trunk (extra strength type and they have a good price)......and I save money on gas by NOT driving my 4X4 over to the city.

Re: Nothin' Runs Like a Deere
I had to mix my concrete in a 5 gallon bucket.........no joke.
Then carry 3 gallons at a time app. another 20-30 foot away......That's some heavy shit btw....
And yeah, we usually have electric mixers.....A drill with a paddle. Soimetimes a grub hoe and a wheel barrow, but of course no way was I getting a wheel barrow up there.
Sometimes this certain Superintendant is an idiot.......
I`m 52 yrs and the two other guys they sent me,one is older and the other looks older than both of us............Sometimes good help is hard to find. .

Re: Nothin' Runs Like a Deere
Top of dam head actually got burnt yesterday from cutting the lawn.
I
Today our friends are picking ME up at 9:30 and we are going to the beach. Had to rub it in to the Mrs as she was in 42 degrees and rain yesterday
And trust me I do look at the riding mowers at the Depot and Lowes every chance I get, but my purchases always get moved to the back of the project list.
