2014 Weekly Picks, Results and Standings

Post  BlueShoes1 on 9/2/2014, 12:40 pm

Each week, I will post the picks, results and standings in this thread.  Players should continue to post their picks in the current week's "Lines" thread.  Any problems or questions, shoot me a message.

Week 1 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  Shipokekid nearly set an all-time Bookie Challenge record when, making his very first set of picks EVER, he went for the True Perfecta and lost it when Andrew Luck came through at the end of the Denver-Colts game.    Missed the 7 point reward and settles for 2 best bet points.  Lots of Goose Eggs but that's to be expected given the quality of the players in this league (yours truly included).  Onto week two!!

Week 2 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  After the debacle of the Colts game, I'm about ready to give up on the NFL, its sucking "referees" and the Colts playing calling.  Unfreakin' believable.  And, where I live all I'm gonna hear about for the next week is the freakin' Iggles and their awesome offense.  I'm hating football right about now.   pizzedoff

Week 3 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  BigDrew scores a big hit with a True Perfecta and pulls away from the pack of Perfecta hitters: Agent99, Arkman, and kamikaze to finally put some meat in the point standings.  Lots of green this week with several players hitting both of their best bets.  Lookin' like we might lose lizzard and dblshock.

Week 4 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  Arkman (2 best bets) and CravnRavn (a Perfecta) move in on BigDrew's (zero points) territory as things, overall, tighten up a bit in the challenge.  Magic (the other Perfecta) and PrimeTime (a Parlay) strengthened their positions.  Meanwhile, yours truly and IndyColt Goose Egged and drop further back in the pack.  It's a grind and another 13 weeks (including the Thanksgiving picks) remain so anything's possible!

Week 5 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  Three Perfectas (Agent99, kobesgame, and BlueShoes) and a Parlay (Primetime) highlight this week's results.  Goose Eggs by Mighty and PackerBacker are the low-lights.  Everyone else has no lights.  2 more weeks until the division breakup occurs so think closely about your picks to position yourself for something you have no control over!  Ha!!

Week 6 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  Agent99, as he did last week, hit a Perfecta.  IndyColt joined him and BigDrew attempted to keep pace by hitting both best bets but blowing a True Perfecta thanks to San Diego's failure to cover.  Magic also missed a True Perfecta thanks to the Titans poor showing.  One more week to division breakups.  Looks like we'll have 20 players across four divisions with 3 players, including the front-runner Agent99, as non-chip players.  What's that about?  mischief

Week 7 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  Some mild reshuffling this week with no significant changes.  PackerBacker tried vainly to get out from the back of the pack by hitting the only Parlay of the week.  That's it!  Look for division-forming announcements by Thursday!

Week 8 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure. 3 Perfectas (kamikazi, Agent 99, and IndyColt) and 3 Parlays (Lizzard, CravnRavn, and Shipokekid) painted a lot of green on the board this week.  Too bad Agent99 is playing for bragging rights only.  He has every reason to brag with a total of 23 points, 4 perfectas and 4 parlays and we're not even half-way through the season.  For rookies and the uninformed, a season point total is usually somewhere in the 30-35 range.

Week 9 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  One of each - a Goose Egg (kamikaze), a Parlay (Mighty_colts) and a Perfecta (CravnRavn).  Indy and Arizona were the big bets this weekend and garnered points for several players.  The Lacey Division has a runaway leader in our erstwhile Raven fan from Florida.  Ironic that he had to jump on the Colts backs to make it happen.

Week 10 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure. The Pittsburgh debacle was costly to several players (but it was so nice to see "Big Ben" get his comeuppance).  ColtsKurt hit a True Perfecta and jumped into first place in the Tesla division (Since Agent99 is a non-chip player).  Five players (kamikaze, Woos20ks, PrimeTime, BigDrew and hawkfan8812) hit Parlays.  Three of the divisions remain competitive.  CravnRavn is running away in the Lacey division and is going to be very tough to catch.

Week 11 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  Pittsburgh failed to cover and cost a few player points but the funniest result of all is that it gave Magic a very rare, difficult-to-achieve, True Goose Egg!!!.  hellyes hellyes It also cost Shipokekid a True Perfecta although he did get 4 points with a Parlay and a best bet win to jump up to trail ColtsKurt by a point in the Tesla Division.  Little movement occurred in other divisions, including the Ark Division where Wood20ks played like his Bears have played lately and laid a Goose Egg.  Heads up, players!! Next week after the normal weekend we'll have the traditional  Turkey Day play for your chance to close the gap.

Week 12 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  kamikaze extended his lead in the Ark Division with a Perfecta while R&R Hawks did the impossible and hit the second TRUE GOOSE EGGS in the challenge in back-to-back weeks!!!  This is not a good trend, fellow players.  The only positional movement in any division was a minor change at the bottom of the Fresh Division where Dergio dropped into last place following his failure to enter any picks for the week.  In the Lacey Division, Cravn opened the door for his opponents but they all failed to knock let alone try to walk through as he maintains a controlling lead over the pack.  On to the Turkey Day picks...look for lines to be posted tomorrow.

Thanksgiving Day - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  No parlays, lots of red, a few screwed up picks.  We're just a bunch of turkeys.

Week 13 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  Another True Goose Egg by Magic!!  Talk about black holes -- seems any of his possible green results are getting sucked right down the tubes.  You do realize there's a theoretically possible 140 points each week?  That's 20 players each hitting a true perfecta, see?  Now this week we hit a collective total of 13 points!  The big point winner (and I use that term loosely) was ColtsKurt with his two best bet winners so I suppose he gets some sort of bragging rights.  Kamikaze Goose Egged but remains in first in the Ark division.  Next week let's see if we can perform better than a lame duck congress, OK?

Week 14 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  Another not-so-exciting week, players.  Kamikazekid hit a Parlay and a best bet to extend his lead in the Ark Division.  Six players (BlueShoes, kobesgame, Shipokekid, PrimeTime, BigDrew, and hawkfan8812) hit two best bets each.  Minor movement in player standings -- Hawkfan moved up a notch in the Fresh Division ahead of Dergio.

Week 15 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  Three parlays (kamikaze, BlueShoes, and PrimeTime).  The only one that caused upward movement was PrimeTime's in the Tesla division.  Three players (BigDrew and Mighty_Colts and Magic) hit both of their best bets.

Two more weeks to get your butts into first place to win the bonus points going into the playoffs.  Let's see, in the Ark division that would mean kamikazekid needs to goose egg both weeks while Ark hits two True Perfectas!!  In the other three divisions it's still possible for major changes in position to occur but it's gonna take some work.

Week 16 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  No real movement in the standings this week.  Only MightyColts moved up one spot when Dergio again failed to make any picks.  Two players (BlueShoes and hawkfan8812) hit both best bets to manage two points each.  Lots of red ink in the grid but, most notably is the fact that we had our third True Goose Egg of the year thanks to CravnRavn.  Funny thing is that, on Monday evening, he found himself having to root for Peyton Manning in order to avoid the the TGE.  Peyton came through with 4 interceptions and John gets the benefit.  Congrats, John, for this fine, fine, scoring week.  Magic and IndyColt both had Goose Eggs.

One more week to go to establish your divisional position and earn one or two bonus points to carry with you into the playoffs.  It is technically possible to see a change in division winners in 3 of the 4 divisions -- only kamikazekid is assured of winning in the Ark division.  It's gonna take Perfectas or True Perfectas in the other divisions to see them change winners.

Two wild-card runner ups (across all divisions) will each earn ONE bonus point.

Make the final week count!
_______________________________

Week 17 - Picks and Results for your printing pleasure.  OK, first things first.  We had a Perfecta this week!  Wood20ks hit one to edge up on his division leader but not hardly enough.

Next week we start the playoffs.  For the rookies (and anyone else who can't remember the way things work now), this ends the BC division races.  Everyone gets thown into the same pool (or pot) and starts with zero points.  Ah, that is, except for the four division winners (who each start the playoffs with TWO points) and the two at large wild card winners (who each start the playoffs with ONE point).  Everyone else is starting the playoffs with ZERO, ZIP, NADA, or NIL points.  Got it?

Congratulations to the division winners:

In the Ark Division, kamikazekid who's also a rookie.  With his outstanding performance along with matching the BC record for parlays in a season this player is this season's ROOKIE OF THE YEAR!!.  Well done, sir!

In the Lacey Division, CravnRavn who was a consistent leader pretty much since the division breakup.

In the Tesla Division, ColtsKurt by virtue of his better best bet winning percentage over PrimeTime.  Note that Agent99 is a non-chip player and so cannot officially win the division.

In the Fresh Division, BigDrew (Cravn's boy).

And, lastly congrats to the at large wild card winners PrimeTime and ShipokeKid (another rookie).  The Tesla division cleaned up, I'd say. (Oy Vey wtf )

Well done, gentelemen (and you too, Cravn)!!

Everyone's still in this thing and, with the playoffs, anything can happen!  Good luck!

Good thing about the NW is I rarely have to put up with local fans bragging about how their team won with the help of dumbass blind officials giving them the win.

And last season the Colts beat Denver,SF,and the Seatoucans clap

The M's will never win a WS and the Sonics have to look back at 1979........Seatoucans win once and never again dancing3

Glad Drew is not usually in the Tesla Division!

Sunday I was seeing a true perfecta myself and then in the last minutes the Eagles decided to stop playing defense and hope the clock would run.

And then the Niners choked to make me only get a thursday point again.

Yeah I noticed Lizzard but he sent me a message saying he was sending in the *Chips* so I think he is just giving me a chance to stay out of last place lol

Fixed. For some reason, in my rush, I marked both Philly and St. Louis as losers.  Maybe a Freudian slip of the mouse?

Come on Seattle (God how I hate to say that). And, tonight I'm a Pats fan as well. (Just threw up a bit in my throat). wtf
