King Of Concrete®©
Early in the day for me but outside I go for the next project.......
Building a higher wall out by my waterfall so this winter the creek doesn't overflow and head toward the house like last winter
Yesterday I mixed a couple bags down in the garage so it is easier to get the Cutlass in and out because (I didn't build this original building) it has a concrete floor made in 3 sections and each was 2in lower than the next so I had to drive in climbing up to each level which is not easy when there is only 3inches of room on each side and I would rather not hit the support pillars with my 40+ year old car
So I hope next time I drive in there it will be a bit smoother.
After the creek storm wall the next project is a concrete table top for the table I am making out by the pond.......that should last longer than the wooden ones I have got over the years here

Last winter
And todays upgrade to maybe keep the creek from going straight over the bank instead of the left turn over the Magic Falls
I will have to leave that form up for a few days before I can let the water touch it and that rock is bigger than it looks (280lbs) and 5 bags of concrete for the addition.

Not quite finished yet but here is the top of the concrete table I made out by the pond.
5 inches thick with some tiles and I used the powder to color the concrete at the top.
I am still leaving the form on the bottom until it cures for a month....or maybe all winter.
The top alone is just over 500lbs.

Well Cravn I have been wanting to make one of those behind my house for years now (3ft X 30ft) but I never get caught up with things here to even start that project.
I have been tempted to just have a truck drive in and pour it and then lay some type of stone or tile in it myself but since I had the driveway paved I have a feeling the big concrete trucks we have here would leave 2 grooves in the driveway......that I would fill with concrete
ColtsKurt wrote: Why so thick for the tabletop, Magic?
Well a couple reasons Kurt,
I want it to last for a couple hundred years and the way I attached it to the base pillar I made last year was by bolting some angle iron I used as rebar.
It has the 2 main bolted ones going across one direction and then 6 more placed on top of those two in the opposite direction.
That made it 4 inches so I had to make the concrete thick enough to cover that.
And I put in several pieces of regular rebar out towards the edges of the octagon shape.
The Mrs kept telling me when I was making it that somebody will sit on it and break the top.
So I had to make sure that would only happen if one of the big alder trees behind it falls in a storm (I may cut one down in fact)
Of course it is so late in the year that I took the umbrella down before I took those pics and put it away until next year
.....man it is probably our last sunny day and from up here I see the trout jumping in the pond so I guess I better go out and sit by the table and watch.......

Thanks Brotha Kurt
The 1st of Tishri the year 5772
I just came in from my sunny day and finished the mortar work on that table top (had to put the umbrella back in while I was doing that) and after wearing the skin off my fingers since the rubber gloves won't fit on my Wilt hands...remember I mentioned we had 40 mallards here this year begging for seeds every day.....well now we have 50 mallards
They must have told some friends about the seeds
So I just tried to snap a pic as they fly back to the pond when I point the camera out the back door.
Might have to name one Larry Bird now
Not easy to count them all but they are all in flight.
Rosh Hashanah
