You must be a "Axe Men" show watcher.......tonight is a new one and now one of the goofy new crews is from my part of the world so you can see what the Olympic Peninsula is like.

They are a newer crew from Port Angeles which is west from me.....but most of my friends live closer to that area than where I am.

I was just on the phone with a friend from Sequim which is between my place and Port Angeles and he knows that crew and they logged the area around my friends private golf course up on Palo Alto mountain above Sequim.

We have billions of trees and many of them are hundreds of years old and still nice logs laying around that are 1000 years old.

I never logged or worked at the lumber yards but my friends all did.

I used to be a "cedar bolt" logger back in the 1970's and even used that 4X4 that I still have starting in 1976.

That was going out in the middle of no where finding ancient cedar logs and old dead ones that where killed in fires hundreds of years ago.

We would take em to the cedar mill and they would make em into shakes and shingles.

My Logs for the home came from the Pacific North West, they are white pine, Cedar was double the kit cost.

Yeah more reasons why I will stay living here on the Peninsula.

I get the show at 7:00 and 10:00 and in the summer it stays light outside until close to 10pm

We get all the shows early especially when it comes to the network show we get on the east coast channels (Leno at 8:30...or Johnny Carson back when I built the 1st dish)

Yeah I have planted a few white pines over the years......they have a fungus type problem (blister rust) here and it killed all of mine and some were 15ys old (firewood size anyway)

Billions of hybrid fir trees and cedars.

You are lucky to have white pine since the problem started in 1900 and they still have not figured out a perfect way to make them survive.

The fungas came from Europe.

I planted 3 of my sequoias on the house side of the row of 60ft tall pines and when the pines started dying I cut them down and just left em there since the people around here were too lazy to take the free firewood.

Wasted many years of my tree planting here since pines and fir were the first ones I planted in 1987 bluehoo

You cant burn pine indoors, unfortunately, that sap takes 10+ years to dry up, and if you burn it wet it will stick to the sides of the chimney then you have problems.

Check out this map, my property butts into the area named Broad Creek Boy Scout Camp. Im sure its the water that causes the disease on the pines..Thats all that was in this one section, closest to the Susquehanna River..All the pines developed a fungi. and they bull dozed, I know 500 acres. Those deer didnt know where to go, I think they all migrated in my yard, (safe from 99)
