CC: 7 years, $161 million (23 million/year). No baseball player is worth that kind of money yet the Yankees are glad to pay it. Of course, they pay like they're playing with Monopoly money and there's no way other teams can compete with that.

As a kid I was a strong Yankee fan (Mantle, Howard, Berra, Maris, "Moose", Whitey Ford and the others). I stopped being a fan of baseball in general after the last strike-shortened season and of the Yankees well before that.

Sorry Magic, but for the life of me, I'll never understand how anyone can root for a team that consists of nothing more than an assemblage of the best players (whose souls) money can buy. wtf

What's the fun in that? wtf

Now Blue if you just read what you said it has to make no sense......especially being a Yankee fan to begin with.

(I have been a Yankee fan since the 1965 season)

That would be like Cravn saying they pay Peyton too much or any other player.

That sounds like a typical Rat Sox fan when they don't make the playoffs or even when they get a rare WS Title

Sure none of these crooks are worth that much money and that goes for NBA players too.

(I do think NFL guys do more to earn that money)

It isn't like the MLB salary rules only apply to the Yankees.

EVERY team has the right to pay as much as they want or need to pay and there are hundreds of players to choose from so if you look around the league there is plenty of great players all over the league.

AND the main reason the Yankees pay that much is because other teams want to run that price up as high as they can on these certain players until King George out bids them.

This very often GIVES those teams millions of dollars which those owners pocket and later do not spend like King George will to get the best team he can.

And that "best team money can buy" line is BS.

Do the Yankees win every season?

Hell no.....not even close.

So in what way is this some kind of scam?

The real scam is how other owners make millions of dollars and then keep that money and then makes its fans whine about the Yankees every season.....every day.

Sure that strike season sucked but so did the NFL and NBA and referee strikes.

I actually went to one game that NFL strike season.

The Yankees have not won the WS since 2000

How does THAT back up this "buying a team" line?????

At BEST it could be fans laughing because they did NOT win.

All they have won as far as the WS since 1962 was 1977, 1978, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000

So this will be only the 7th since 1962

Which means only the 7th WS win in my life and I am no kid even to you young man

(of course I mean 7 since I have been watching games on tv)

There is those other 3 when I was born until I was 4 years old 1958, 1961, 1962,.........which I still count along with the ones back in 1923, 1927, 1928, 1932, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1941, 1943,1947, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1956

Like I said before I don't care if they have a salary cap or not.......most great players without some hang-up on a certain city want to play for and win the WS as a YANKEE in the pinstripes

BTW most of the Yankees salary is for 3 damn players so if they had the salary cut in half it would be like a Twins salary

Hell just dropping CC could do that

Not to mention the Philly pitcher Lee is great and the best pitcher they have and they got him from Cleveland where CC also played at the same time.

That should make Indian fans cry for sure.......and I know how M's cry babies get.

They boo A-Rod but now they love Griffey Jr again.....fanatics I tell ya!

Let me point out to you amateurs........

On a couple of my world famous espn board threads before the WS started I predicted the Yankees in 6 and in the 2 games Philly would win they would have Cliff Lee as the starter.

So when the Yankees win in NYC wednesday that is what we call a True Perfecta

AND may I point out I predicted that using my Magical BC voodoo jinx I would make the Saints fail to cover the spread since we had several depending on that game tonight

I could point out all the times I have done this and it worked.....but you old timers must have a lil memory left

And Blue I have never in my 52 years heard a guy say his favorite team sucked......as many times as you have.......and yeah I did point out the facts to you but you seem to think I made that part up.

I am a physicist and I tend to back my theories up and Einsteins too!

I could post links and type pages of evidence about how salary wars went on to buy many different players every season and the exact teams and numbers involved......BUT......that would be like doing the same thing on the espn Yankee board when Rat Sox trolls stop by every day whining about the Yankees buying every win and all 26....soon to be 27 WS Titles.

The only teams that SUCK in reality are the 3 from Bahstahn Barfachusettes.

On the other hand the 15 time world champion Lakers,soon to be 27 time world champion Yankees,AND MY 5 time NFL champion COLTS rule the galaxy better known as the Milky Way

(oh and of course I am part of the science project Milky Way galaxy using data gathered by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey)

They did damn it, think about it..Pay-A-Ton is winding down his career, while Air Joe Flacco, as a rookie led the team to the AFCC game, this year we all expect more, and we'll probably be in Miami for the SB.
What the hell kinda contract to you think his agent will want after next season?

The Colts screwed up FA, what they pay Freeney for that little bit of production is absurd. We get more produvtion out of our practice players than Freeney has showed since his contract year. Yet he smiles weekly, you'all cheer, but hes average at best.

FUCK THE YANKEES, just figure out what they pay for their first 4 batters..ITS ABSURB. And what pissed me off was the O's offered Texeria a 140 million contract, and he waited and waited..And the Yanks came in at the last minute not with a 145 million contract, but a 160 million..160 Million for a GAME..

Lets all be honest here... when whining about contracts... whether it be baseball, football, or basketball... we're all just jealous. Jealous that we're not being paid fat like that - or able to pay fat like that.
