You could tell the old man was whacked out gain on the pills and the booze from the drunk tweets he was sending out.

I even said as much to Phil b and a few of the other sports guys last season.

The were all like "no way, he cleaned up and learned his lesson"

I was right...

NOW if Jim was a player he would be facing a lifetime fucking ban from the NFL, but since he is worth a billion and a half he won't get shit out of this deal.

He shouldn't be held to any worse treatment than anyone of us. Truth is, though… he'll get a light smack. Now how Goddell responds will be interesting. However, he's not subject to the scrutiny that the players are… nor should he be.

I think you're wrong here, to be one of 32 people that are guaranteed to make a profit year in and year out, you bet your sweet ass Goodell is going to hold him to a higher standard.

On a lighter note the boys on my local radio think the punishment for irsay should be to give Luck to the Jags. drinkbeer

Goodell will fine the living daylights out of him (well, as a billionaire, maybe not...) and probably ban his direct involvement in the running of the team for several years. That will be hurtful to him, but the wheels were already in motion for the transition to the daughters.

The biggest difference locally will be his absence in trying to lure the SB back to Indy. I believe he was a vital part of that process of wooing the owners back. As more new stadiums are built and opened, it will be increasingly difficult to make that happen, despite the convenience factor/edge we apparently have over other venues.  wtf

Yes it is, and why in the he'll bmore didn't put a retractable roof on theirs is beyond me, the technology was there when they broke ground, it was 100% funded by the people so it's not like they were on a budget.

Did you check out the Star this morning CK?

I'm not allowed to talk about headlines before they are released, but I knew this one was coming.

Thats why I think the commish is going to come down hard on Irsay, his mistress died of an OD in one of his houses he set her up in.

They can't tell the players they can't do the kind of shit Irsay has been pulling, and then let him get away with being an out and out junkie.

That's a shame, as you all know I hated his old man, I gained a TON of respect for Jimmy when he didn't copy our sb rings. I honestly hope he gets help and succeeds at it.

I did, 2 shock. One would have to be the proverbial stork with their head buried in the sand if they thought JI, in the midst of a divorce from crazy-Meg, wasn't out there tapping something. Turns out it was a broken-down HS beauty queen. Must have been the lure of the pain-killers getting involved there somewhere…

All in all… damn near a miracle that the daughters have turned-out as well as they appear to have. But, that's what I've been saying about our owner...

Gang this is going to get ugly

NFL surely dreads prospect of Irsay testifying
The news that Colts owner Jim Irsay has beenordered to testify in a child-custody proceeding didn’t register on a national-radar screen currently consisting of only one large blip: LeBron James. The development involving Irsay, however, undoubtedly resulted in a stream of four-letter words at the league office.

Rich and/or powerful guys don’t like to submit to the authority of a court of law. In part, they don’t like to do it because they don’t like to submit toany authority. They also don’t like to do it because, even when submitting to authority, they often can’t or won’t truly submit to authority, resisting that authority with every response to every question.

From the fictional realm, think Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men. From a more timely, real-word perspective, think Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

It usually doesn’t go well when a rich, powerful guy with a history of surrounding himself by sycophants has to answer questions that he doesn’t want to answer and that he believes he shouldn’t have to answer. Men in that position all too often lack the self-awareness to know when they are saying something really, really stupid or really, really unbelievable or really, really harmful to their broader image and/or the interests of the league they represent.

Forced, sworn testimony would potentially not go well for any owner in any major-league sport. For Irsay particularly, a Pandora’s box of possibly bad outcomes for him personally and the league generally looms. The challenge for the league office will be to ensure that Irsay receives appropriate and thorough preparation on how to handle the compulsory Q&A.

So enjoy the LeBron situation while you can. Eventually, the biggest news in the NFL — and potentially in all of sports — could be the things Jim Irsay says on a witness stand and/or the manner in which he says them.

I agree wholeheartedly. This will get ugly.

Add to it the Brazill punishment, this brings on the treatment of players vs the treatment of owners/others associated with the NFL debate. NFL office may not be able to slap him on the wrist due to this. The other owners surely can't be happy about these latest rounds of actions that only serve to chip away their shield of protection they've enjoyed for years...

At first I thought it would be a meaningless fine (to a billionaire) and "stay away for X games"... now, not so sure.

But in many respects, I think what's good for the goose...  wink

I just wonder why he keeps buying his hookers expensive houses?

This one will probably get swept under the rug as well, just like his hooker that died from an overdose in one of the houses he bought for her.
