I remember the adults at my place talking about Joe Frazier winning the Gold Medal in the 1964 Olympics

I was only 6 years old at the time but they got me hooked on boxing (and the other big 3 sports)

I saw Frazier beat Jimmy Ellis in 1970 when I was 12

I remember the kids and our teacher talking the entire hour about the first fight that was going to be later that day.

This was when I was in 8th grade and I remember everyone was saying Frazier would win.

We knew Cassius had changed his name but didn't know wtf that was all about until later.

The Frazier vs Ali II was the day before my 16th birthday and I listened to it on the radio then later saw the fight on tv.

In fact my Mom got used to me watching all the fights on Wide World of Sports back then and got my first pair of gloves for the local boxing Jr. Golden Gloves
